How it started

It started with a $50 box.

Twenty pounds of tangled jewelry, roughly five hundred pieces knotted into one glittering snarl. It cost fifty dollars. Getting it apart cost a lot more: my brother and my husband spent about 120 hours, over several days, working chains loose and freeing clasps, and the kids pitched in too.

Then came the sorting: by style, by color, by what was signed and what wasn't. That box is how this shop began, and every piece here has been handled, untangled and looked at closely before it's listed.

  • By eye

    Photographed in daylight, front and back, so what arrives looks like what you saw. Scratches, missing stones and worn plating are shown, not hidden.

  • By mark

    If it's signed, we say so, and we show the mark. If we're guessing at a maker or an age, we say that too.

  • By measure

    Lengths, widths and drop measured on every piece, and we tell you whether a listing is one piece or a set.

Every piece is described by eye, mark and measure, but not appraised or authenticated. "Baroque" is our name, not a grade: most of what we sell is costume jewelry, and when a pearl is real, the listing says so.
